The History Behind the Ride

Russel's Ride is a memorial motorcycle ride for Russel A. Stroup, who died July 15, 2007 when the crop-dusting plane he was flying crashed. His friends organized the first ride in September 2007. Six bikes and three cars, for a total of 13 people, rode to Purdue University to eat at Russel's favorite restaurant, Hunter's Pub, and visit the campus.

Russel graduated from Purdue in 2005 with a degree in Aviation Technology. A memorial scholarship is in place there to benefit aviation students with financial needs. Proceeds from Russel's Ride go the Russel A. Stroup Memorial Scholarship at Purdue University.

The ride doubled in participants the second year and raised enough money to fund a $1000 scholarship!

This year is promising to be just as successful. We look forward to riding with you in August!
